This Holden HSV VN Commodore SS Group A SV is a very rare Australian homologation special. Number 125 of just 302 examples produced.
This Holden HSV VN Commodore SS Group A SV is a limited-edition homologation special.
Power comes from a 5.0-litre ‘HEC 5000i’ V8, producing 215kW and 411Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed ZF S6-40 manual transmission and a Hydratrak limited-slip differential.
The SS Group A SV was a homologation special based on the VN Commodore SS, created to allow a racing-optimised version of the Commodore to compete in Group A touring car racing.
Regulations set by the international governing body, FISA, required a minimum of 500 road-going versions. HSV produced only 302 units in total, though the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) gave Holden special exemption and allowed the team to race, in the hope of bolstering thinning grids in the 1991 Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC).
Build number 125, it is understood to be one of just 10 cars specified with the full Howe leather interior.
It was originally delivered to Australia, before being imported to New Zealand in 1992.
